The basketball cheerleading team at IHS is part of the athletics department and is included in the school’s membership in the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA). As per the expectations of the Independence High School Administration, our priorities are to:
- support the basketball teams,
- promote school spirit,
- serve as positive role models among peers in our academic performance and behavior in and outside of school and on social media, and
- serve as ambassadors of Independence High School in the greater community.
Members of the basketball cheer teams also have the option of participating in cheerleading competitions, but this will be done as a separate activity in the upcoming year.
Expectations
Cheerleaders at IHS attend camps prior to the basketball season, practice 1-2 times per week, participate in fundraising activities and community appearances. The basketball cheer team has 2 games per week.
